With only 8 minutes and 30 seconds remaining in the game and the score being 24 to 14 in favor of St-Leonard the Midget Spartans embarked on their remarkable comeback. The Spartans ran the kick back to their own 50 yard line and 6 plays later Umar went in for the touchdown narrowing the lead to 24 to 21 still in favor of St-Leonard. On the following kickoff St-Leonard were expecting a short kick to which our ingenious coaching staff decided to tell our kicker Carfello to kick it as deep as possible which he did. Booting the ball all the way into the end zone brought out to about the 15 yard line then moved back to the 3 yard line because of a penalty.
We then needed a big stop from our defense with only 4 minutes and 39 seconds left to play. 4 plays later St-Leonard conceded a safety, making the score now 24 to 23 still in favor of St-Leonard. With about 3 minutes left to play St-Leonard decided to surprise us by kicking it short, but the ball went out of bounds at about their own 50 yard line. The Spartans marched down the field to the 3 yard line, when we had a crucial 3rd down and goal with about 1 minute and 30 seconds left in the game. Spartans decided to hand off the ball to our star running back mon ami Willy who went in for the touchdown making the score now 29 to 24 Spartans. Our coaching staff now decided to take a timeout and decide whether to go for a 2 point convert,which after a lenghty conversation they did and were succesful with a remarkable catch by star receiver Carfello in the endzone. Score now 31 to 24 for the Spartans with still have 1 minute and 26 seconds left in the game. We need one final stop by our defense, which we got when Spartans safety Maxime intercepted a long bomb and eventually ran out of bounds with 59.4 seconds left in the game thus sealing this remarkable comeback victory. Lets keep up the good work.
