There's nothing like a win to get you over a loss. The St-Laurent Mosquito program, which were defeated during the province's 2010 closing football game (a 32-14 loss in the Alouettes cup final), kicked-off the Spartan's 58th football season with a convincing win. They were playing Sherbrooke for the first time and played relentlessly to earn a deserved 40-18 win. The true offensive heroes of the day were the linemen (Samuel, Kee'Shawn, Timothy, Rony, Hakeem, Yiwei, William) who allowed the running game to operate freely all game long (5 rushing TD's from QB Brendon and one from RB Jahlyd). On the other side of the ball, Kessiah and Jeremy anchored a solid defence and prevented Sherbrooke to come back in the game in the second half. The mosquito program will attempt to open up its season with two wins at the AAA level for the first time in two decades when it hosts Joliette on Aug. 27.
